DEALING WITH SNAKES IN DREAMS

 Luke 10:19 (NIV)  19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you 

Over the years I have met a lot of people who encounter recurring dreams of a snake entering their home, or attacking them and they just don’t understand what this means.

At different points in my life, I have had recurring dreams of being attacked by Snakes, Cats, Cattle, Dogs, Lions, Elephants and Hyenas. With time and revelation I came to realize that each of these animals represent a very specific way in which the devil attacks us. Once you start to know what each of these represents, you’ll know what to look for.

In this teaching I am going to show the bible based explanation of what snakes in dreams represent and share two personal experiences of mine with snake dreams and how God unmasked the snakes for me.

 Meaning of being bitten by Snake 

Being bitten by a snake in a dream means there is a problem that you’ll come across which will be made worse, and perpetuated because of a lie that you have been made to believe. And the problem will be solved very easily, once you know and act on the truth.

 In the Bible 

When the devil attacks us through lies and deception, he is pictured in the bible as a serpent, a snake. We see this in Genesis 3 with Adam and Eve, and in Revelation 12.

 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NET) 

 But I am afraid that just as the serpent deceived Eve by his treachery, your minds may be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 

 Psalms 58:3-4 (NIV) 

 3 Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies. 

 4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears, 

Psalms 140:1-3 (NIV) 

 1 Rescue me, LORD, from evildoers; protect me from the violent, 

 2 who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day. 

 3 They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips. 

EXPERIENCE ONE – A LYING MECHANIC

The dream:  Posted October 30, 2019

 I had quite a bad dream.

There was a long green snake. This man then held this snake and said, “This snake does not release poison from it’s teeth but from it’s eyes.” The snake then bit him on his hand. He didn’t mind. But I thought, maybe it’s because he had anti venom.

The snake then began to bite me on my leg. I think it struck me about 8 or so times. Till my wife woke me up because I was literally shaking my legs in my sleep.

The day that I shared this dream, the very next morning my car, refused to start. It just woke up dead. (This is what was represented by my leg in the dream – transportation)

So I called my number 1 mechanic, he was busy. I called number 2, he was busy. Then I called a mechanic I knew from the neighborhood and he said, ‘I will come over right now.’  I decided to give him a chance. I liked him and I had also seen him in bible discussions that we did in town.

He turned out to be the snake that would bite me.

He had the car for three weeks. During the three weeks, he asked me buy a lot of parts, which he said needed to be replaced. I lost a lot of money, but I needed the car up and running so I can work.

After 3 weeks, He called and said the car is now perfect. He asked me to collect it. When I drove it I noticed that it was no longer changing gears, and not going over 30km/hr. I also discovered, that he had drained all the 30litres of fuel and left it without a single drop. 

When I asked him about all this, he then told me that I needed to give him money to buy a new gear box. 

Though I had always suspected, that this guy was the snake in my previous dream, I had given him a chance to see if it was so. Now it was clear.

After three weeks, the car was not fixed, he had drained my fuel and now asking me to buy more new parts. So I called my usual mechanic 2. He came over looked at the car and it turned out that the previous guy had also stolen parts.

Needless to say, in 30 minutes. mechanic 2 had the car running and perfect. I did not have to buy a new gearbox. All I had to do, was replace a small part, which the first guy had claimed to have replaced.

EXPERIENCE TWO – A FALSE TEACHING

This one took place over 9 years. I grew up in a church that believed only in healing by faith. All forms of medicine were viewed as evil. So my whole life I had never taken even a pain killer. But it also happened that we generally did not get sick. 

However I believe God wanted to teach me a lesson.

Around 2007, I started having a severe tooth ache. I prayed for the tooth and after some days, the pain went away. The tooth had been loose and after some time it became fully lodged in again.

After some months I had a dream of a black snake coming to bite me. A few days later, the tooth started aching severely. I prayed and after a couple of days it was good. A few months later I dream of the black snake and it bites me, A few days after that, the pain returned. My whole head, neck, shoulder and jaws would be in pain.

I resolved that I would solve this by prayer alone, and primarily because I had been taught that medicine was Satanic. As the years went by, the pain came less frequently, but I would always have this dream of this snake biting me.

Why couldn’t I have victory over this black snake. 9 years later, in 2016, I finally got my answer. I was on a business trip at an airport in South Africa when the tooth started again. Pain was shooting through my head, neck, shoulder and jaw.

Finally, I walked into a pharmacy and for the first time in my life, I bought a pain killer and took it. As I fell asleep in the plane, I dreamt of the black snake again.

But this time, for the first time, in 9 years, I saw myself killing that snake.

In the next few days I understood that the snake was the lie that I had been taught that Medicine and doctors were against faith and God’s will.

I stopped praying for the tooth and went to the doctor to get it removed. I have never dreamt of that black snake since.

The snake was a lie or wrong understanding, which the devil used to perpetuate a problem that had a simple solution .God could have done a miracle, but he wanted to expose this lie that I had believed, and show me that He also can work through doctors and medicine.

 CONCLUSION 

There are many kinds of snakes we encounter in dreams: black snakes, brown snakes, silver snakes, green snakes, big snakes, small snakes, gigantic snakes or even two headed snakes. 

All these are describing different ways in which Satan can introduce lies to us, in order to perpetuate problems that otherwise have a simple solution. A snake can represent a wrong belief system that we are holding onto, and thus causing us to endure problems the we don’t have to.

In some cases, a snake can represent the presence of fallen angels and deceiving spirits in the life and ministry of a prophet or preacher. The preachers themselves may not be aware of these spirits in their ministry but in other cases they may be willingly submitting to them.

Each dream is unique.

When you dream of snakes, it just means you need to pray to God and ask him to reveal any falsehoods or lies hidden in your life. If you’re bitten by the snake, means you will struggle with a problem because of a lie that will be told to you. Pray immediately for God to give you wisdom and expose the lie when it comes.

When I met my neighborhood mechanic, the moment he said,’I need to take the car to my workshop’, The Holy Spirit immediately brought the snake dream to my mind. In my heart I knew that this is the snake and that this mechanic is probably pretending to know what he is doing but he is lying. As he was someone I knew, I never thought he would deceive and steal from me.

I had an opportunity that moment to put a stop to it, but I let it happen because I wanted to give him a chance.

Usually when you have a dream, when the relevant time comes, the Holy Spirit will bring back that dream to your mind. But we usually brush it aside.
